Why Handcross Park?

Handcross Park is set in 52 acres of parkland in West Sussex, close to Haywards Heath, Horsham, Crawley and London. We are part of the Brighton College Family of Schools and offer an outstanding education to boys and girls aged from 2 to 13.

The Good Schools Guide

We are rapidly making a name for our unique approach to education. Here are a few of the reasons why:

  • In 2019, Handcross Park was named PREP SCHOOL OF THE YEAR at the prestigious Independent Schools of the Year Awards.
  • In 2020, Handcross Park was named BEST PREP SCHOOL FOR INNOVATION by The Week Independent Schools Guide
  • In 2021, Handcross Park was named BEST PREP SCHOOL FOR PASTORAL CARE by The Week Independent Schools Guide
  • In 2022, Handcross Park was named BEST PREP SCHOOL FOR BOARDING by The Week Independent Schools Guide
  • In 2023 Handcross Park's head of Educational Technology was a finalist in the GLOBAL ED TECH AWARDS
  • In 2024 Handcross Park was a finalist for BOARDING SCHOOL OF THE YEAR by the TES and the Independent Schools Guide.
  • Academic excellence is at the heart of a Handcross Park education, and we ensure that every child is well prepared for their senior school and beyond. Inspiring a lifelong love of learning is key to our teaching
  • A high percentage of our Year 8 leavers gain Scholarships to Brighton College and other top senior schools
  • Kindness is central to our culture at Handcross Park. Visitors always comment on the pupils’ ‘friendliness, good manners and confidence’
  • We are committed to making sure that pupils are digitally literate and ready to embrace technological change. We were named an ‘Acer Innovation School’ in 2018 (1 of only 15 in the world to achieve this accolade) and we are one of the few Google Reference Schools in the UK
  • All our pupils learn Mandarin and Spanish from an early age. As these are the two most commonly spoken languages in the world, our pupils will be well placed to take on the global workplace. French and Latin are also taught in the upper years
  • 100% of Prep School pupils play regular sports fixtures against other schools, whatever their ability
  • From Year 3 onwards, every pupil takes part in our Leadership Programme, developing key life skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation
  • Unlike many Prep Schools, we don’t have Saturday School, allowing our pupils to make the most of their precious weekends, either at home with their family or within our boarding community, taking part in our extensive weekend activities programme
  • We strongly believe that children should have a childhood as long as possible. With 52 acres of stunning grounds to explore, our pupils have everything one could dream of to create idyllic childhood memories
  • Our fantastic Boarding House is situated at the heart of the School and was described by Tatler as having ‘some of the nicest dorms we have seen’
