Learning in our Nursery
Our highly experienced, qualified, caring and friendly staff provide a stimulating and nurturing environment where each child's needs are catered for through our fun, play-based and child-led curriculum.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, providing opportunities and experiences in the seven areas of learning and development:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Expressive Arts and Design
Themes and topics are used to engage the children’s interests as well as a range of enrichment activities which include dance, sporty tots, music, mindfulness, Spanish and Forest School.
We know the value of home and school partnerships when it comes to your child’s learning, and it is important to us to work closely with parents from the start. Your child’s learning is shared through online journals and our friendly professional staff are always there to help.
Our school day in the Nursery offers flexibility during term time to suit busy families and also to cater for the differing interests and energy levels of the children. The core part of the school day provides an excellent balance of learning through work and play both in the classroom, around the wonderful setting of the Secret Garden and within the superb facilities and grounds of the Prep School.
‘Scatter kindness’ is a sign which appears all over the place at Handcross, and it seems that everyone here has taken this to heart
